Valley View in 2014

Greetings and Happy New Year!

It is truly amazing to watch what God is doing at Valley View. We are witnessing God leading people to us who need to experience His power and love in their lives. We are seeing new believers growing in their walk with God. We know that God is alive and at work among us as we strive to “inspire people to follow Jesus”.

This Sunday, January 5, I encourage you to join us as I share the vision and direction our leadership has set for Valley View. In the message I will address who we are, where we are going and how we will get there. John 10:10 will be the basis of our teaching so please take a moment to familiarize yourself with this passage.

We begin a new elective series this Sunday. During the 9:30am hour you may choose a study led by Rondal Smith that will cover 1 Peter, or you may want to be a part of a discussion with Terry Chaney regarding “A Study of Heaven”. At the 11:00am hour Richard Clark will lead you through a study on Hebrews.

I would like to take a moment and ask you to prayerfully consider your position when it comes to LifeGroups. Is God calling you to be an active participate in a LifeGroup or is He calling you to be a leader of a LifeGroup? There will be a Leaders Training on Sunday, January 12, from 9:30am to 11:00am in Room 230. Join us for an opportunity to ask questions, receive training, and have breakfast.

I encourage you to be a part of a LifeGroup and reap the benefits of living life with others who desire to study God’s Word and enrich their spiritual growth. Connect: Wednesday Nights resumes on Wednesday, January 15. Please join us for a “Winter Treat” in the lobby at 6:45pm before Connect. At 7:00pm I invite you to join our Discipleship Minister, Phil Holland, as he leads our adult men and women on a journey through 1 Corinthians. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience all that God has in store for you through this study.

For those who are interested in becoming a member of Valley View, we will offer the next Discover VVCC on January 26, 2014. The purpose of this class is to share our mission, vision, values and discuss how to place membership. We then encourage you to join us the following Wednesday evening for a casual dessert where you will meet the ministers and elders and fellowship with others who are new to Valley View. You will discover how to get involved in classes and what serving opportunities are available. To RSVP for Discover VVCC, fill out this form:

I trust that God has much in store for Valley View in 2014 as we partner with Him and seek His face. I look forward to seeing you on Sunday and God Bless!

I am originally from Missouri and I attended Ozark Christian College in Joplin, MO. After college, I spent several years serving in the local church before moving to Texas in 2010. I married my wife, Ruthann, in 1989 and we have four boys (and one daughter-in-law) who keep our lives very full! I enjoy woodworking, football, Mustangs, and spending time with my family. I am passionate about challenging people to follow Christ with their whole lives and I am excited to see how God is using Valley View to advance His Kingdom.

Joe, since your mother moved, I’ve lost contact with your family. May all that you do be seen as advancing the Kingdom. Say “Hello” to all of your family, although, I image that I am only a vague memory, if even that from my days at CCH (72-76)
