A Look Inside preView

In preView, our desire is to begin to set the spiritual foundation for the young children we serve.  We want each child to grow up believing that: God made me. God loves me. Jesus wants to be my friend forever.

Every Sunday in the infant and toddler rooms, we open our morning with these 5 activities:

Pat the Bible-  Have each child touch the Bible and say “Bible”; sing ‘Pat the Bible Book’ song

The BIBLE song-  The B I B L E, Yes that’s the book for me. I stand alone on the word of God. The B I B L E.  Bible!!!

Find Jesus-  Say, “The Bible tells us about Jesus.  Every time we open the Bible we find Jesus.”  Have each child take a turn finding the picture of Jesus in the Bible.  When they find it say, “Every time we open the Bible we find Jesus.”

Who does Jesus love?-  Say, “The Bible tells us that Jesus loves us.  Let’s see who Jesus loves.”  Show one child the picture of Jesus on the mirror.  Say, “Jesus loves…”       Turn the mirror so the child sees his/her reflection.  Say the child’s name.  Do this for each child.

Jesus loves me song-  Jesus loves me this I know.  For the Bible tells me so.  Little ones to him belong.  They are weak, but he is strong.  Yes, Jesus loves me.  Yes, Jesus loves me.  Yes, Jesus loves me.  The Bible tells me so.

(Also sung to the tune of Jesus Loves Me) I love Jesus.  Does He know?  Do l often tell Him so?  Jesus loves to hear me say.  That I love him everyday!  Yes, I love Jesus.  Yes, I love Jesus.  Yes, I love Jesus.  I often tell Him so!

With the consistency of these activities, along with a Bible story lesson, our hope is that your child will begin to learn about God’s love for them.  In fact, you might catch your child patting your Bible or singing ‘Jesus Loves Me’.  Next month, I will outline what we do in the preschool classes on Sunday mornings.  Have a great week and remember, “If you can play, you can teach children to love Jesus!”
