Student Ministry Update

At Valley View, one of our core values is “Strengthening the faith of our families and future generations”. Our Wednesday night programming, called “Connect”, is a huge piece of the strategy for us to “strengthen our future generations”.

If you walk downstairs on a Wednesday night, you will find a lot of energy, a lot of kids from a variety of backgrounds, and a lot of caring adults working with our kids. Our Student Ministry is in full gear each Wednesday night with small groups, large group teaching, and connecting with one another through food, or games, or random fun elements.

This semester, we are going through a lesson series called “God is….. I am…..”. Our goal through this series is to help our kids with a basic understanding of what a Christian is and how we are different from the world. We will explain the basics of the Gospel and how that impacts our kids’ lives at this age. We will challenge them by the end of this series to make a commitment to follow Jesus Christ. Please pray for God to move in the hearts of our teens.

As you know, we are in the process of hiring a new Student Minister. There are several names that we’re praying through and are determining the final candidates. Please keep us in prayer as we seek God’s direction regarding this important position.

We have several things planned for our students and in addition to our weekly programming, here are two events for you to be aware of:

Sunday, October 12 – Spend the afternoon with us at Main Event, in Lewisville, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. For $20 the kids can have an All Access pass to lazer tag, bowling, mini golf, a $10 card for video games, and 2 slices of pizza. Kids will need to have their own transportation to and from Main Event. Sign up in the Youth Room.

Thursday-Saturday, November 6-8 – A youth conference, called “The Event”, in Joplin, MO, at Ozark Christian College. We will leave after school on Thursday, stay overnight at OCC with some of our “kids”, attend classes at OCC and the conference Friday afternoon thru Saturday afternoon. Cost will be $45, plus meal money for 3 meals. Sign up in the Youth Room.
