Last week I was reading a devotional from Focus on the Family called “Planting Lifelong Skills in Your Kids”. This particular day talked about helping your kids learn from their mistakes. This devotional challenged me to ask myself a few questions such as: Are my kids’ mistakes frustrations that interrupt my day? Do I take the time to help my kids learn from their mistakes?
Sometimes it’s easy for me to forget that my kids are still learning what’s right and wrong. Sometimes my schedule gets the best of me and I feel that I don’t have time to help my child understand why the thing that he did was not right. God has given parents, though, an amazing opportunity and responsibility to teach our children how to live a life that pleases Him.
It is my prayer this week that we will all take time to talk our kids through their mistakes and show them the same love that Christ shows us.
