I hope this finds you as ready for a New Year as we are!
As much as I wanted to leave up our Christmas decorations I knew it was time to begin a NEW year. Since I was a young girl I have always loved the idea of something being made NEW…..Every year my sister and I assign a word to the NEW year and I chose the word ‘Restoration’ for 2015. There are a multitude of reasons which led me to choose this word but more than any of them- it’s the simple truth that it is the refining process God has me in right now…….He is showing me the beauty He is making out of some of the rough and broken places which I’ve accumulated throughout my life……I’m so grateful that He makes all things NEW!
If you are looking for a NEW beginning this year and a place to grow. I’d love to share some opportunities we have which will help you in this process.
We will begin our Spring semester with a study on Tuesday mornings entitled
‘What Love Is’.This study will encourage us in our challenge as a Church to love our neighbors as we Love Dallas! Following this study we will be challenged to slow down and ‘Breathe’ as we make room for all that God has for us in our lives.
On Wednesday evenings ‘The Best Yes’ will equip us with the tools to make wise decisions which will ultimately free up our lives to live fully for God. We will then follow up this study by digging deeper into God’s word and coming to a greater understanding of how it daily makes a difference in our lives!
Here are the details about the first studies of the Spring – you may have already seen these from our previous blogs – and a brief overview of the up and coming studies.
Tuesday Morning Bible study -9:30-11am (Childcare is provided)
What Love Is – 1/13/15-2/24/15
A 7 session study of 1, 2, & 3 John by Kelly Minter, encourages you to remain faithful to the truth. You will be challenged to look at contrasting themes such as walking in the light instead of darkness, truth versus lies and deception, loving God more than loving the world, and the meaning of true fellowship and community rather than shallowness.’
Breathe – 3/17/15-4/14/15A five week study by Priscilla Shirer- ‘One of the greatest challenges among women in our culture is taking time to stop and cease from all the activities and busyness and just breathe. We are in bondage to busyness. We constantly strive to complete the limitless to-do lists that hinder us from experiencing all that God has for us. We miss the moments because we rush ahead to the next thing. By neglecting time for tranquility, serenity, and repose, we limit our Christlikeness and miss out on some of God’s greatest gifts. It is time for us to breathe and build margin into our lives for God. ‘
The Best Yes – 1/14/15-2/18/15
It seems like our schedules are getting busier and we are being asked to take on more and more things. Do we always need to agree to chair a committee, teach Sunday School, join a running club, and house those in need? Is it ever okay to say “no”? Join us as we study Proverbs with Lysa TerKeurst, and learn how to make wise decisions in 2015.
“Christian” – Phil Holland- 2/25/15-3/25/15 (off March 11 for Spring Break)
This 4-week study will be a combined session for men and women to study together! It is difficult to define what the word, “Christian” really means because it means so many different things to so many different people. What a “Christian” must believe and how a “Christian” ought to live are rarely agreed upon. Through this study we will get to the heart of Christianity and bring clarity to the most important aspects of our faith.
Modern Parables – 4/1/15 – 5/6/15
– Living in the Kingdom of God – Video Based Series
Do you ever wonder what the Bible has to do with your everyday life? Do you wish you could explain God’s Word to your unchurched neighbors and friends? Modern Parables will help us grasp the parables at an immediate, gut level and allow us to engage the Bible in a powerful and compelling new way!
We care about the discipleship of everyone in our Church family. Here are a few details outlining what we have available for the rest of your family too:
– Men have a study just for them on Tuesday mornings with Phil Holland, who is conducting the same study with men on Wednesday Nights during Connect.
– There is also programming for all ages during Connect (7-8:15pm) on Wednesday evenings, so you can take your whole family to church to grow closer to God!
This Sunday 1/11/15 we will be continuing our sign ups for ‘What Love Is’ & ‘The Best Yes’. We would love to partner with you as you grow deeper & become who God has created you to be!
