Saying Thanks – a note on Pastor Appreciation Month

It’s been just a little over a year since I started working at Valley View Christian Church. Getting hired on to be the Communications Director was life changing in so many ways, but one of the most impactful has been my fellow coworkers.

Since day one, the ministers on staff at Valley View have welcomed me, generously shared their lives, their families, and – my favorite – their food with me! They have challenged, inspired, and taught me with wisdom and passion for the Kingdom of God. Most of all, they have pastored me. During chaotic life change, they cared for my well being (physical and spiritual) and strengthened and equipped me to do the hard work of the Kingdom.

Not only have I seen them sacrificially serve me and the rest of the staff, I have seen them spend long hours, heard of their sleepless nights, and listened to their stories as they serve our congregation. Believe me when I tell you that when your heart is broken, theirs breaks alongside you! When you are fighting to stay faithful, they are fighting beside you in prayer and with encouragement. When life is difficult and presenting dilemma after dilemma, they are asking God for ways to help you conquer the struggle and grow closer to Him. The ministers of Valley View are daily praying for you, church! Be encouraged.

This week, those of us outside the ministerial realm of Church staff said a big “Thank You” to our pastors, with a delicious lunch and some fun bottled soda! We are SO grateful for their hard work, their sacrificial love, and their inspiring example to us as they pursue the Glory of God day in and day out.

If you would like to join us in appreciating them, there will be a basket at the Welcome Center the next two Sundays where you can leave a note of gratitude and let them know that this Pastor Appreciation Month, their work for the Kingdom is not forgotten, and is useful in building God’s Church!
