It’s been an incredible year for outreach at Valley View! Between our second annual Great Day of Service in September, Into the Streets in July and our year-long initiative “LoveDallas,” we’ve seen so much of the LORD giving His Goodness to our local community.
Now, wouldn’t you know it, Christmas is just around the corner. Listen – I LOVE Christmas. How cool is it that we get to celebrate this one holiday for an entire month?! I put this wreath on the front of my truck and everything during Christmastime. You can look for it in the parking lot during church on Sundays. It’s hilarious.
As a church filled with Christ followers, it’s fitting that we end our year celebrating the coming of Christ our Savior, who is our example and the only reason we have the opportunity to serve our Dallas community. It is fitting that we end our year of LoveDallas with one more LoveDallas event.
Christmas from the Heart is an outreach event we’ve done at Valley View for the past several years. It’s an opportunity to share the Love of God in a season that exists to celebrate His love coming into the world. We’ve distributed applications for families in our community who are in need of a little help to make Christmas fun for their kids, and are preparing a night for them to enjoy a Christmas meal, gifts and gift wrapping, music, crafts for the kids, and pictures with Santa!
Here are two ways you can help:
- Grab a heart. We’ll have a Christmas tree in the lobby starting Wednesday, November 18th, that will have paper hearts listing gifts we need for our families attending Christmas from the Heart. Sign up to pick a heart, purchase the gift listed on the heart, and return the gift to the table in the lobby by Wednesday, December 9th.
- Volunteer. There are many positions we need you to fill the night of Christmas from the Heart, December 13th, at 5:00pm. We need volunteers to be Host Families and spend time with the families we are serving during the event. There are also open positions in the Gift Wrapping Room, Craft Room, and Game Room.
Sign up to help at the tree in the lobby starting Wednesday, November 18th.
