Valley View Christian Church Mission Trip

Christian Mission to the Orient

December 28 – January 7

Who is Christian Mission to the Orient?

Christian Mission to the Orient (CMO) is a missionary partner of Valley View Christian Church serving Thailand.  CMO was established for church planting in South East Asia, to train church leaders for South East Asia, and to promote the publication of Christian literature and the translation of scripture into local languages.

What is the purpose of this mission trip to Thailand?

Valley View will be joining CMO on a Medical Mission Trip under the Community of Blessings (COB) program.  This program brings basic medical care to marginalized people in smaller villages and we will be serving the Lua people.   Not only will we be providing medical and dental care, but we will be demonstrating God’s love and grace for people.  This opens the doors for the local pastor to continue evangelizing.

I would like to go, but I am not in the medical profession.  Are there other ways I can serve?

COB runs a medical exam station with basic pharmacy, vision station, and a dental station at each mobile clinic.  Volunteers are not required to be professionally trained/certified in the medical field to participate –  although medically trained and certified volunteers are highly desirable trip candidates – there are plenty of jobs for everyone.

How much does the trip cost?  When is the money due?

The trip is $2500.00 which covers airfare, lodging, and transfers.  Vaccinations, travel insurance, and some meals are not included.   A deposit of $500 is due by August 1, 2016,  a second payment of $1000 is due October 1, and the final payment of $1000 is due December 1.

Are scholarships available?  Are fundraisers an option?

There are scholarships available for Valley View Christian Church members. Those will be determined after the $500.00 deposit is made, so we know of the number of people who are committed to going, and their financial needs. If you are committed to serving the Lord in Thailand, the Valley View Missions Team will do everything we can to assist you in getting there!

How many positions are available on this trip?

We need 11-15 people for the medical mission trip.  5 of these are trained medical professional positions.

  • Two dentists/dental hygienists
  • 3 doctors/EMTS/nurses

The remainder of the team can be trained for the following:

  • Vision exams (5-7 positions)
  • Pharmacy and assistant positions (1-3)

Will I need vaccinations? When are they needed?

Vaccinations are needed.  Please check the following link.

What will our accommodations be like?

The medical mission teams travel to areas accessible by van, with running water and electricity. We will be staying at a small hotel.

Can I use my airline miles for my ticket?

You may, as long as you travel with the group.  Rather than $2500.00, the cost is $650.00.

Will we have time to pick up a souvenir?

The last day of the trip will provide some extra time to shop and see the local sights.
